Effective Date: 5-15-25
At Newborn Nook Doula & Lactation Services, LLC, the health and safety of the families we serve—as well as our team members—is a top priority. We are committed to minimizing the risk of illness transmission during all in-person services, including home visits, clinic consultations, birth support, and postpartum care.
Client Responsibilities
-
Health Screening: Clients are asked to self-monitor for symptoms of illness, including fever, cough, sore throat, congestion, body aches, or gastrointestinal symptoms.
-
Exposure Notification: Please notify us immediately if you or anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19, flu, RSV, or any other contagious illness within the past 5 days.
-
Rescheduling: If you are feeling unwell or have had a recent exposure to a contagious illness, your appointment may be rescheduled or moved to a virtual format. There are no penalties for illness-related cancellations with proper notice.
Masking: Clients may request that the provider wear a mask during in-home or clinic visits. We also ask clients to mask during in-person visits if they are recovering from illness or have had recent exposure.
Provider Protocols
-
Daily Self-Screening: All team members conduct daily self-checks for symptoms and refrain from attending visits if ill or recently exposed to contagious illness.
-
PPE Use: Depending on current community health guidance or client preference, providers may wear masks and/or gloves during visits.
-
Sanitization: Hands are washed or sanitized before and after each visit. All equipment used is cleaned and disinfected between appointments.
Virtual Services: When possible, virtual appointments (via phone or video) are available as an alternative to in-person care.
Birth Doula Support
In accordance with hospital and birthing center policies, doulas may be subject to testing, vaccination, or PPE requirements when attending births. We will work with you to understand your birthing location’s current guidelines and ensure a safe support experience.
